Israel is taking baby shark cases seriously, with the police saying they are monitoring the situation closely.
“We are in the process of monitoring the case,” a police spokesperson said on Wednesday, adding that it was unclear how many cases had been reported.
“The police are investigating the cases of the baby shark,” she added.
Last month, Israeli police reported two new cases of baby shark, after the death of a seven-month-old boy, in the southern city of Ashkelon.
Police were alerted by a citizen who had reported seeing a shark near a beach in the city’s Negev region, and a few hours later found the boy’s body.
According to police, the boy was swimming at the beach when he was struck by a shark while swimming in the shallow waters.
He died at the scene.
